Delete Your Account - Stay Steady
This page explains how to permanently delete your Stay Steady account and the data associated with it.
Quickest Path — In-App
Stay Steady supports full account deletion from inside the app:
- Open Stay Steady.
- Go to the Settings tab.
- Under Account, tap Delete account (Dutch: Account verwijderen, French: Supprimer le compte, German: Konto löschen).
- Confirm the prompt. The deletion runs immediately.
You do not need to contact us to delete your account — the in-app flow does the same thing as a manual request.
What Gets Deleted Immediately
When you delete your account, the following data is removed from our servers within minutes:
- Your Supabase user record (UUID, email address, sign-in identity).
- Any category corrections you submitted to improve the on-device categorization model.
- Aptabase anonymous-analytics opt-in record.
All your local data on the device — transactions, savings goals, budgets, settings — stays on the device until you either uninstall the app or tap Erase all user data in Settings. Stay Steady is a local-first app, so nothing about your spending was ever stored on our servers in the first place.
What We Retain (and Why)
A small amount of data is retained after account deletion, only where the law requires it:
- Anonymized crash reports in Sentry: retained for up to 90 days, with no user identifier attached after deletion.
We do not keep email addresses, transaction details, or personally identifiable information after deletion. Stay Steady is free — we don’t process payments and therefore have no payment history to retain.
Partial Deletion (Without Closing Your Account)
If you only want to clear your local app data but keep your account active (for example, to start fresh on a new device):
- Open Stay Steady → Settings.
- Tap Erase all user data (Dutch: Alle gegevens wissen).
- Confirm. This removes your local transactions, goals, budgets, and learned categorization rules. Your account and any submitted category corrections remain intact.
This is reversible by re-importing your data; account deletion is not.
Alternative Path — Email Request
If you cannot open the app (for example, you’ve already uninstalled it but want your server-side data removed), email:

Please send the request from the same email address you used to sign in. We will:
- Confirm the request within 5 business days.
- Delete the data within 30 days, as required by GDPR Article 17.
- Send you a confirmation when the deletion is complete.
